North Carolina’s Ethically Challenged Ethics Commission

Theresa Kuhn liked this post

Ethics, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, has the following meaning:

rules of behavior based on ideas about what is morally good and bad.

Its secondary definition is this:

ethics : an area of study that deals with ideas about what is good and bad behavior : a branch of philosophy dealing with what is morally right or wrong.

I include these definitions of ethics because, and I suppose we should not be surprised by this at all, some branches of government have no clue about ethics or “what is morally right or wrong”.

Take the North Carolina Ethics Commission… these buffoons issued an “opinion” that literally turns the definition of ethics upside down.

In response to a request from Joal H. Broun, the Lobbying Compliance Director for the Department of the Secretary of State Lobbying Compliance Division, the North Carolina State Ethics Commission responded with the following:

You have asked whether consensual “sexual favors or sexual acts” between a lobbyist and a designated individual constitute a gift or “thing of value” that would trigger the gift ban and reporting requirements of the Lobbying Law and whether those activities would fall within the definition of “goodwill lobbying” and trigger the Lobbying Law’s registration obligation.

This opinion was adopted by the State Ethics Commission at its February 13, 2015, meeting.

Section 120C-303(a)(1) of the Lobbying Law restricts a registered lobbyist from giving a gift to a designated individual unless a gift ban exception applies. “Gift” is defined as “[a]nything of monetary value given or received without valuable consideration….” G.S. 138A-3(15).

A lobbyist must report certain “reportable expenditures,” defined to include gifts and “things of value” greater than $10 per day given to a designated individual or immediate family member.

Consensual sexual relationships do not have monetary value and therefore are not reportable as gifts or “reportable expenditures made for lobbying” for purposes of the Lobbying Law’s expenditure reporting provisions.

However, a lobbyist or lobbyist principal’s provision of paid prostitution services by a third party to a designated individual could constitute a gift or thing of value, albeit an illegal one, depending on the particular facts.

This would appear to give lobbyists, at least in North Carolina, the go-ahead to offer sex to government officials, as it would not be considered a “gift” and would therefore not be a reportable item.  Even offering a government official a paid prostitute may not be deemed a “gift” in the right circumstances, they say.

Uh huh.

One newspaper, the Beaufort Observer, offered an editorial that made it clear they disagreed with the state’s  ethically-challenged ethics commission.

“You can hire yourself out as a lobbyist and pull down big bucks for the job of getting special favors done for your clients and those clients are more than willing to pay big bucks for your service. And many of those clients don’t really care how you get them those favors from bureaucrats or elected officials as you produce what they want.”

So we can now “legally” ply our elected representatives with sex?

Isn’t that precisely the sort of behaviour a so-called “ethics commission” ought to prevent?

Not in North Carolina.

The Answer to Criminals with Illegal Handguns is… More Laws for Criminals to Ignore?

Ontario Liberal M.P.P. and Deputy Government Whip, Mike Colle, doesn’t like criminals driving around with guns. Frankly, who does?
Unfortunately for us, the answer to the problem – any problem – for a politician is always the same: create more laws for criminals to ignore.
This is precisely what Mike Colle proposes with Bill 24, Prohibiting Driving with Unlawful Handguns Act, 2014 – An Act to amend the Highway Traffic Act and the Civil Remedies Act, 2001 to promote public safety by prohibiting driving in a motor vehicle with an unlawfully possessed handgun. (
He wants to create more laws prohibiting criminals from driving around with illegal handguns even though doing so is already a crime.
The bill’s Explanatory Note starts off with this statement:
The purpose of the Bill is to promote public safety and suppress conditions that lead to crime. The Bill adds a new section 172.2 to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, which makes it an offence to drive on a highway in a motor vehicle in which there is an unlawfully possessed handgun.
While his bill’s intended outcome is perhaps laudable, his premise is not. Amending the Ontario Highway Traffic Act to include new crimes is pointless, redundant and a waste of the Ontario Legislature’s time, energy and resources.
The Criminal Code of Canada, through Section 94, already makes it a crime to occupy a vehicle, moving or not, with an illegal firearm inside it.
Unauthorized possession in motor vehicle –
            94. (1) Subject to subsections (3) and (4), every person commits an offence who is an        occupant of a motor vehicle in which the person knows there is a firearm, a prohibited      weapon, a restricted weapon, a prohibited device, other than a replica firearm, or any     prohibited ammunition, unless
(a) in the case of a firearm,
 (i) the person or any other occupant of the motor vehicle is the holder of
(A) a licence under which the person or other occupant may possess the firearm, and
(B) in the case of a prohibited firearm or a restricted firearm, an authorization and a registration certificate for it,
(ii) the person had reasonable grounds to believe that any other occupant of the motor vehicle was the holder of
(A) a licence under which that other occupant may possess the firearm, and
(B) in the case of a prohibited firearm or a restricted firearm, an authorization and a registration certificate for it, or
(iii) the person had reasonable grounds to believe that any other occupant of the motor vehicle was a person who could not be convicted of an offence under this Act by reason of sections 117.07 to 117.1 or any other Act of Parliament;
The answer to criminals and guns is not to create more laws for them to ignore. The answer is to enforce the laws against criminals possessing illegal firearms. Creating an Ontario-specific crime that duplicates Section 94 of the Criminal Code of Canada is pointless (and probably ultra vires) unless, of course, your primary motive for passing such a law is so you can be seen to be doing something useful instead of actually doing something useful.
Please contact your local Ontario M.P.P. immediately and urge them to stop wasting the legislature’s time and resources by duplicating laws that already exist.

Muskrat Hats: Canadian Government puts Human Beings above Animals – Anti-Fur Activists Freak Out

The news that the RCMP would abandon muskrat hats due to pressure from anti-fur activists was a little strange.

“We have listened to the views of external interested parties and of our employees,” wrote RCMP Corps Sergeant-Major Darren Campbell.

“RCMP officers stationed in areas that are not considered extreme will be issued the winter tuque only. Those that will require the fur hat will have to request approval and authority from their line officers in order to obtain the fur hat.”

What the RCMP didn’t count on was a government that has no interest in pandering to anti-fur activists, no matter how well-intentioned.

Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq made it clear the historic fur hats were not going away any time soon.

The historic fur hats worn by the RCMP “will not be discontinued, despite the efforts of the radical animal-rights activists,” said Ms. Aglukkaq, a staunch supporter of the fur industry who hails from Nunavut.

I would like to assure Canadians that the minister of public safety has taken actions to ensure that the historic fur winter hats worn by the RCMP will not be discontinued, despite the efforts of radical animal rights activists,” Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq said during question period Tuesday.

“The RCMP decision, which is causing much glee among anti-fur activists, is being fully overturned. Our government will always stand up for Canada’s hunters and trappers.”

The Fur Institute of Canada issued a press release saying it was pleased with the government’s decision.

“The FIC is pleased that the Government’s support for this heritage as well as the internationally recognized principles of conservation will not be compromised by radical animal rights activists whose efforts and campaigns of misinformation only serve to hurt the livelihoods of Canadians in rural and remote communities.”

“Canadian trappers not only contribute to the economy, they also play an integral role in managing wildlife populations under the supervision of the government for the benefit of all Canadians. They are hard-working, dedicated conservationists who have a profound respect for animals and a love for nature. Today’s fur trade is highly regulated and utilizes traps, including those for muskrat, that are in full compliance with the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards.”

“Progressive” activists don’t care about people though; animals are far more important.

Better ten thousand families go hungry than a single animal fur be sold is their attitude.

Me? I’ll take my lead from someone better than me.

God gave Man dominion over the land and everything in it. He put people first and I will happily follow His example.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Champlain Bridge: Quebec’s Entitlement Complex Strikes Again

Montreal’s Champlain Bridge in is falling down. With a design described as “flawed from the outset” it’s surprising the bridge stayed functional this long. Nobody argues the fact this bridge must be replaced.

The only issue for Canadians, all Canadians, is who will pay for that new bridge.

I cannot think of a single reason why taxpayers outside of Quebec ought to pay for the new Champlain Bridge. It’s municipal infrastructure, not provincial or federal.

Justin Trudeau can, of course, and his rationale is the same as for every other Quebec project. Canada owes it to Quebec for their decision to grace us with their presence in Confederation.

The spoiled child with no job experience, no leadership experience and no clue about anything except Quebec’s entitlement to the contents of the rest of the nation’s wallets, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau parrots, indeed embodies Quebec’s sense of entitlement.

NDP leader Thomas Muclair suffers that same notion of Quebec’s entitlement.

Anything Quebec desires Ottawa (and by Ottawa I mean the rest of Canada) must pay for. It’s the Quebec way.

The government of Quebec, Justin Trudeau and Thomas Mulcair all demand, not that Canada subsidize the costs of a new Champlain Bridge, but that we pay for it outright.

If Quebec gets is way the Government of British Columbia is fully justified in demanding Ottawa pay the entire construction costs of both the Golden Ears Bridge ($1 billion) and the new Port Mann Bridge ($3.5 billion), as both were constructed without a single federal tax dollar.

If it’s good enough for Quebec, clearly it must be good enough for British Columbia and the rest of Canada too, right?

Absolutely not! says Quebec Premier Couillard, Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and NDP leader Thomas Mulcair.

Both British Columbia bridges were constructed and paid for using tolls.

While I despise the notion of paying a second time for the construction of a bridge my taxes are already supposed to cover, BC didn’t ask anyone else to pay for our bridges. We asked for no handouts from Ottawa. We paid our own way, just as Quebec should with the Champlain Bridge.

I’m surprised Stephen Harper made the offer to build the new $5 billion bridge at all. That he did so is very generous. In asking Quebecers pay back that cost over time through tolls on the new Champlain Bridge Harper is painted by Quebec politicians as harsh and unfair.

So says Quebec Premier Couillard, Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and NDP leader Thomas Mulcair. They all oppose Quebecers paying for the new Champlain Bridge through tolls.

Every one of them, their sense of entitlement freshly buffed and shined, demands the rest of Canada pay Quebec’s way.

What is bizarre about their combined position against tolls to pay for the construction of the new Champlain Bridge is the Oliver Charbonneau Bridge connecting Laval and Montreal is a currently toll bridge. The existing Champlain Bridge was a toll bridge until the 1970s.

This is NOT a new concept for Montreal despite the hypocrisy of Montreal’s Mayor, Quebec’s Premier and the two opposition windbags, all of whom scream how unfair this is.

If you believe, as I do, that Quebec ought to pay its own way for a change tell Prime Minister Stephen Harper your thoughts. Send him an email at and tell him no Federal tax dollars for the Champlain Bridge project unless those construction costs are repaid, in full, through tolls.

While you’re at it, please copy your message to Prime Minister Harper to both Liberal leader Justin Trudeau ( and NDP leader Thomas Mulcair (

It’s long past time both these men learned the rest of Canada is tired of Quebec’s never-ending sense of entitlement; that the rest of Canada somehow owes Quebec simply because it exists.

Andrew Winchester: The Epitome of Stupid People with Guns

Andrew Winchester is a stupid person.

I call Andrew Winchester a stupid person because only an idiot would believe handing over 47 handguns, all legally purchased and registered to him, to an unlicensed individual wouldn’t have severe consequences. You would think being paid $900 per purchase over and above the cost of the guns and ammunition just might be a clue something is not quite legal.

Not Andrew Winchester.

In order to work for his previous employer, Garda Security, he took the Canadian Firearms Safety Course for both non-restricted and restricted firearms. He passed the course, applied for and was issued a Canadian firearms license.

He then purchased 47 handguns over a 5-month period and re-sold them to a friend of his. His friend did not have a firearms license. Selling 47 handguns to his unlicensed friend is a criminal offense.

The Criminal Code of Canada is quite clear about the transfer of handguns or as the law refers to them, restricted firearms.

Section 23.2 (1) A person may transfer a prohibited firearm or a restricted firearm if, at the time of the transfer,
(a) the transferee holds a licence authorizing the transferee to acquire and possess that kind of firearm;
(b) the transferor has no reason to believe that the transferee is not authorized to acquire and possess that kind of firearm;
(c) the transferor informs the Registrar of the transfer;
(d) if the transferee is an individual, the transferor informs a chief firearms officer of the transfer and obtains the authorization of the chief firearms officer for the transfer;
(e) a new registration certificate for the firearm is issued in accordance with this Act; and
(f) the prescribed conditions are met.

As you can see above, Andrew Winchester broke every single part of this section of law.

From the judgment in R. v. Andrew Winchester, 2014 ONSC 2591:

[17] There are a number of aggravating circumstances in this case, most of which are self-evident. First, Mr. Winchester used his firearms licence to purchase and then transfer forty-three handguns to another person, his presumed friend, Nour Marakah. Second, Mr. Winchester transferred these handguns knowing that Mr. Marakah would, in turn, be providing them to another person. It must have at least crossed Mr. Winchester’s mind that these were not guns that were being acquired for lawful or innocent purposes. If that thought did not cross Mr. Winchester’s mind, it ought to have. Third, Mr. Winchester undertook these purchases with an assurance from Mr. Marakah that the firearms would not be traceable back to him. This was yet a further reason that should have caused Mr. Winchester to question what was, in reality, going on. It also should have caused him to rethink his participation in this venture.

It is unfortunate that Andrew Winchesters two sons will be without their father for the next six years (He received 2.5 years credit for time served before his trial), but such is the high price of stupidity.

Mr. Winchester is, however, fortunate Superior Court Justice Ian Nordheimer laughed at Crown’s retarded argument that his lack of a prior criminal record should be viewed as an “aggravating circumstance” at sentencing.

[20] Finally on this point, the Crown submits that another aggravating circumstance is Mr. Winchester’s lack of a criminal record. The Crown’s reasoning is that it was the lack of a criminal record that allowed Mr. Winchester to obtain a firearms licence that in turn allowed him to purchase these handguns. I do not accept that reasoning. It is well-established that the lack of a criminal record is a mitigating factor not an aggravating one. [..] I do not know of any authority, and none was cited to me, that has ever held that in a situation, such as the one here, the lack of a criminal record can be transformed from a positive factor into a negative one.

At the end of the day, as the court judgment makes clear, Andrew Winchester had a very misplaced sense of loyalty and obligation to his high school friend Nour Marakah. That sense of loyalty and obligation cost Andrew Winchester his freedom, his fiance, his job and his sons.

I doubt Andrew Winchester views the $15,000 he received as payment for purchasing the handguns was worth it as he sits in a federal prison cell.

He would be correct.

Don’t Hurt People and Don’t Take Their Stuff

Attila Vaski, Mike Ackermann liked this post

Don’t Hurt People and Don’t Take Their Stuff: A Libertarian Manifesto by Matt Kibbe is an excellent treatise on the state of liberty in the 21st century and a roadmap back to our precious Rights and Freedoms.

While written to an American audience, the principles he outlines apply equally to we freedom-loving citizens here in Canada.

In this essential manifesto of the new libertarian movement, New York Times bestselling author and president of FreedomWorks Matt Kibbe makes a stand for individual liberty and shows us what we must do to preserve our freedom.

Don’t Hurt People and Don’t Take Their Stuff is a rational yet passionate argument that defends the principles upon which America was founded—principles shared by citizens across the political spectrum. The Constitution grants each American the right to self-determination, to be protected from others whose actions are destructive to their lives and property. Yet as Kibbe persuasively shows, the political and corporate establishment consolidates its power by infringing upon our independence—from taxes to regulations to spying—ultimately eroding the ideals, codified in law, that have made the United States unique in history.

Kibbe offers a surefire plan for reclaiming our inalienable rights and regaining control of our lives, grounded in six simple rules:

  1. Dont-Hurt-People-and-Dont-Take-Their-StuffDon’t hurt people
Free people just want to be left alone, not hassled or harmed by someone else with an agenda or designs over their life and property.
  2. Don’t take people’s stuff
America’s founders fought to ensure property rights and our individual right to the fruits of our labors.
  3. Take responsibility
Liberty takes responsibility. Don’t sit around waiting for someone else to solve your problems.
  4. Work for it
For every action there is an equal reaction. Work hard and you’ll be rewarded.
  5. Mind your own business
Free people live and let live.
  6. Fight the power
Thanks to the Internet and the decentralization of knowledge, there are more opportunities than ever to take a stand against corrupt authority.

These 6 rules are simple, but as with most things “simple”, they are not easy.

Defending Rights and Freedoms Takes WorkOur own complacency is the first roadblock to kick in.  Someone else will do it.  I don’t have time.  I’m too tired… the excuses we make for our own inaction are endless.  The very first thing we must do is kick ourselves in the behind and do what is put in front of us to do.

That’s all.

Fighting for our Liberty takes effort.  It takes time.  It often takes money, too.

Each and every one of us must prioritize what is most important to us and act accordingly.

If defending Liberty is important to you it, your actions will show it.  If your actions are not showing your commitment, then you and only you can do something about it.

Solar Power and Rainwater Collection Declared Illegal?

We’re told endlessly that we must be responsible for the energy we use; that we must be energy-self-sufficient; that the world as we know it will literally come to an end of we don’t buy into the eco-frenzy.

I have no issue with being energy-self-sufficient. In fact I completely agree with the philosophy.

Twenty-five years ago the power company wanted an exorbitant amount of my money in return for sending me an electricity bill each month. I told them to pound sand. I installed solar panels almost immediately and have run my home on them ever since.

Cut to Cape Coral, Florida, where Robin Speronis, a 54-year-old former real estate agent, had a judge declare her solar panels and rain-water collection system illegal.

From Living Off The Grid:

Speronis, a former real estate agent, decided to adopt an off the grid lifestyle in the home she owns after her husband died after a long illness. She cited her faith in God and desire to be self-sufficient.

It was an interest in empowering myself, like we did when we got off the health care system,” she said. “I wanted to look at every other part of my lifestyle and say, do I need this? Is this of value to me? If it went away tomorrow, what would I do? The more I got into it, the more exciting, the more of an adventure it became.

Then came the bureaucrats and with them their deeply ingrained fervor for “following the rules” and their highly illogical sense of injustice.

Last November a bylaw code enforcement officer showed up at the Speronis home and promptly tried evicting Robin Speronis from her own home.

The reason? Robin refused to use public utilities.

At the root of the case is an outdated and idiotic requirement that every home must be connected to the city water system. This dates back to the time when the city deemed using well water a sin and forced everyone to use the city water system.
The Cape Coral city bureaucrats now claim dominion over the skies and the water that falls freely from them. Collecting rain water is now considered a violation of this outdated (did I mention idiotic) city ordnance too.

Her case ended up in court, where Special Magistrate Harold S. Eskin made an utterly absurd ruling.

While declaring the bylaw regulations of Cape Coral redundant and unreasonable, Eskin ruled simultaneously that Robin Speronis violated both local city codes and the International Property Maintenance Code, which unilaterally declares any home without grid-sourced electricity and running water is “unsafe and unsanitary“.

In a word… Hogwash.

Speronis’s case should be a wakeup call for anyone living off the grid. The International Property Maintenance Code and similar regulations are on the books in many parts of the United States and Canada.

Speronis refuses to bow to the city’s demands, though, even while they force liens on her property and continue to issue more fines associated with her ‘violations.’ She is able to appeal the judge’s decision, which would allow her to carry on with her sustainable lifestyle.

She has said, “We have a long, long road to go. I’m sure justice will prevail.”

Living in harmony with nature is now a crime?

I can’t wait for the eco-freaks to catch onto this story.

They’ll surely shred Special Magistrate Harold S. Eskin with his own stupidity, and rightfully so.

Profound Stupidity Has Consequences (Imagine That!)

Human beings are amazing creatures.  We’re creative, astounding beings most of the time.  However, there are times when the Gene Pool needs cleaning and in those moments our genetic code’s self-correcting mechanism is extremely powerful.

Take, for example, the case of an unnamed Michigan man who decided to teach his girlfriend all about firearm safety.  He told her all three handguns were clear and safe and then proceeded to prove this to her by pointing the gun at his head and pulling the trigger.

Unfortunately the now deceased man hadn’t bothered to actually check for himself that all three firearms were in fact cleared.

After successfully pulling the trigger on two firearms and hearing the expected “click” of a hammer falling on an empty chamber, the third trigger pull resulted in his brains splattering all over the wall behind him.

The third handgun was loaded.

From the article on

The woman tells police her boyfriend had been drinking most of the day before showing her how to use his three handguns and demonstrating they were safe when empty.

Police say he placed the first two guns to his head and pulled the triggers once each, but the third gun fired. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gov’t of Canada Implements Cypress-style bank account theft in Economic Action Plan 2013

bankOne year ago the island state of Cypress stole money from its citizens and gave it to major bank, one of which folded anyway. Calling the theft “a necessary measure” to keep the state economically viable, politicians rewarded the very institutions responsible for the economic crisis gripping the tiny nation.

The banks will do anything to avoid the consequences of their own selfish acts and if that means stealing the bank accounts of mere citizens, well, that is precisely what they will do.

Since the political backlash from such a massive theft was so minimal, bankers in other nations are taking their cue from Cypress and lobbying politicians to steal from the bank accounts of “large deposit holders” on the premise that if you’ve been successful and earned a lot of money you must be punished for that success.

Cypress politicians stole over 10.6 billion Euros (yes, that’s with a “B”) from its citizens and handed it over to the banks. That level of government theft is astounding and unprecedented.

And it’s now being repeated elsewhere in the world.

Italy, Poland and New Zealand have all begun the process of stealing from productive citizens and handing that money over to their major banks.

Think we’re immune to such a thing here in Canada? You’d best think again.

Canada’s “Economic Action Plan 2013” specifically contains a provision for the Government of Canada to steal money from your bank account and give it to this nation’s major banks.

“This new budget actually proposes to implement a ‘bail-in’ regime for systemically important banks’ in Canada,” financial expert Michael Snyder wrote on The Economic Collapse Blog in his article “Cyprus-Style Wealth Confiscation Is Now Starting To Happen All Over The Globe.”

Now that “bail-ins” have become accepted practice all over the planet, no bank account and no pension fund will ever be 100% safe again. In fact, Cyprus-style wealth confiscation is already starting to happen all around the world. As you will read about below, private pension funds were just raided by the government in Poland, and a “bail-in” is being organized for one of the largest banks in Italy.

Unfortunately, this is just the beginning. The precedent that was set in Cyprus is being used as a template for establishing bail-in procedures in New Zealand, Canada and all over Europe. It is only a matter of time before we see this exact same type of thing happen in the United States as well. From now on, anyone that keeps a large amount of money in any single bank account or retirement fund is being incredibly foolish.

Mr. Snyder provides examples from numerous nations around the world and then explains the situation for we “mere citizens” of Canada.

Incredibly, even Canada is moving toward adopting these “bank bail-ins”. In a previous article, I explained that “bail-ins” were even part of the new Canadian government budget…

Cyprus-style “bail-ins” are actually proposed in the new Canadian government budget. When I first heard about this I was quite skeptical, so I went and looked it up for myself. And guess what? It is right there in black and white on pages 144 and 145 of “Economic Action Plan 2013” which the Harper government has already submitted to the House of Commons. This new budget actually proposes “to implement a ‘bail-in’ regime for systemically important banks” in Canada. “Economic Action Plan 2013” was submitted on March 21st, which means that this “bail-in regime” was likely being planned long before the crisis in Cyprus ever erupted.

So what does all of this mean for us?

It means that the governments of the world are eyeing our money as part of the solution to any future failures of major banks.

As a result, there is no longer any truly “safe” place to put your money.

One of the best ways to protect yourself is to spread your money around. In other words, don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. If you have your money a bunch of different places, it is going to be much harder for the government to grab it all.

But if you don’t listen to the warnings and you continue to keep all of your wealth in one giant pile somewhere, don’t be surprised when you get wiped out in a single moment someday.

I’m no fan of the Liberal Party of Canada, but you can rest assured they will NOT repeal this should Shiny Pony and his party win the next federal election.

When so-called “conservatives” decide stealing from its citizens is acceptable, there are no conservatives principles left in the corridors of power. The Conservative Party of Canada has, with the introduction of “Economic Action Plan 2013” proven they are conservative-in-name-only.

This does not bode well for Canada.

If you find the idea of stealing money from the personal bank accounts of Canadians to finance the failures of big bank abhorrent then I urge you to write and call Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and your own local Member of Parliament and make it clear their newfound path is… unacceptable.

If you do not explain to our elected “representatives” in very clear terms that their “Economic Action Plan 2013” is repulsive and unacceptable they will happily steal from you and justify that theft by saying

“It’s for your own good.”

Let me assure you, the following excerpt from Canada’s Economic Action Plan 2013 is NOT for your own good, but the banks Stephen Harper and Jim Flaherty support.

Establishing a Risk Management Framework for Domestic Systemically Important Banks

Economic Action Plan 2013 will implement a comprehensive risk management framework for Canada’s systemically important banks.

Canada’s large banks are a source of strength for the Canadian economy. Our large banks have become increasingly successful in international
markets, creating jobs at home.

The Government also recognizes the need to manage the risks associated with systemically important banks—those banks whose distress or failure could cause a disruption to the financial system and, in turn, negative impacts on the economy. This requires strong prudential oversight and a robust set of options for resolving these institutions without the use of taxpayer funds, in the unlikely event that one becomes non-viable.

The Government intends to implement a comprehensive risk management framework for Canada’s systemically important banks. This framework will be consistent with reforms in other countries and key international standards, such as the Financial Stability Board’s Key Attributes of Effective Resolution Regimes for Financial Institutions, and will work alongside the existing Canadian regulatory capital regime. The risk management framework will include the following elements:

  • Systemically important banks will face a higher capital requirement, as determined by the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.
  • The Government proposes to implement a ?bail-in? regime for systemically important banks. This regime will be designed to ensure that, in the unlikely event that a systemically important bank depletes its capital, the bank can be recapitalized and returned to viability through the very rapid conversion of certain bank liabilities into regulatory capital. This will reduce risks for taxpayers. The Government will consult
stakeholders on how best to implement a bail-in regime in Canada. Implementation timelines will allow for a smooth transition for affected institutions, investors and other market participants.
  • Systemically important banks will continue to be subject to existing risk management requirements, including enhanced supervision and recovery and resolution plans.

This risk management framework will limit the unfair advantage that could be gained by Canada’s systemically important banks through the mistaken belief by investors and other market participants that these institutions are ? too big to fail.

The Terrorists Among Us

Alicia Price looks like a nice girl. She’s wearing a T-shirt with the picture of a bear carrying a sign saying ‘Free Hugs.”

Alicia Price - June 15, 2011Nice girl or just another criminal?

Alicia Price – June 15, 2011
Nice girl or just another criminal?

Moments later there is a video sequence of her taking a cigarette lighter and setting a police car on fire (starting at 7:35). She’s pleaded not guilty and her case will come to trial 9/13/2013; months from now.

She’s not alone, of course; the Vancouver Sun has a database where you can scroll through the hundreds of charges arising from the Stanley Cup riot of 2011.

There are several points I’d like to make about those charged and, more importantly, the tens of thousands of rioters who were not charged and will never face any public sanction for breaking the law, trashing the streets, stealing private property, torching private cars and attacking the police that day in June two years ago.

The first is that these were not a band of organized agitators from out of province or out of country; these were our kids. Otherwise passive couch potatoes, video game players and smart phone texters became a raging mob of anti-social, anti-capitalist, anti-democratic maniacs. Young people, largely from the suburbs, went on a crazed rampage that went on for hours and hours.

The second point is that they didn’t confine their assaults to private property and the police; they also attacked individuals who tried to intervene, notably one Robert Mackay who tried to prevent rioters from entering the Bay and was assaulted by 15 people.

Forget the phrase ‘Stanley Cup riot.’ It wasn’t over a hockey game, a cup or anything else. This was a riot of pure nihilistic anarchy; a physical repudiation of not just capitalism, but of society, order, individual rights, private property, laws, and most notably of their parents. Our young people don’t just ignore their parents, they despise us and our entire system. They have become cultural Marxists and anarchists, ready and willing to tear society down at the slightest provocation.

In attempting to do so, they made a point that has been made by revolutionaries time and again around the world; that when the social contract breaks down at its core, it cannot be propped up for long by the police; not that the Vancouver police did much propping up because they were, presumably, under orders not to injure much less arrest the rioters.

In earlier days, the army would have been called out, the Riot Act read and the rioters shot until they dispersed. The conscription riot in Montreal in 1917 is a case in point. Well, we won’t see that again. There is no government in Canada, no Mayor, no Army commander, prepared to fire on rioters in Canada these days and yet there are tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of young people ready to shred every aspect of modern Western society.

Not that they need to riot. They can wreck society by just doing more of what they do the rest of the time: not getting married, not having children, not voting, not going to church and not taking part in civic life.

Are they terrorists? Perhaps not by the conventional definition; but they certainly terrify me.

A Canada passed on to childless, self-centered, nihilists who believe in open borders, climate change, the ‘evils’ of GM food, oil sands, tankers, fracking, nuclear energy and who think Islam is ‘cool’ should terrify all of us.

Happy End of the World Day! (At least according to those dead Mayans…)

Well, today is the day.

The End Of The World!!!

Good thing too, because if it doesn’t I’m in big trouble for not buying my wife any Christmas presents!

Seriously though… the end of the world? All because some old dead guys gave up counting?

Are people really this naive?

Sadly, the answer to that is a resounding YES!

To combat the silly people even NASA put up a page titled “2012 and Beyond: Why The World Won’t End” that contains a series of explanations on why it will be life as normal on December 22 and beyond. Opening that page, NASA states:

Dec. 21, 2012, won’t be the end of the world as we know, however, it will be another winter solstice.

How incredibly dull.

Just another Winter Solstice? Where’s the drama in that?

I guess the prize for drama will go to those nutbar French people. A group of French wingnuts will travel to the top of the mountain where they believe aliens will come and sweep them away to safety.

In the French Pyrenees the mayor of Bugarach, population 179, has attempted to prevent pandemonium by banning UFO watchers and light aircraft from the flat topped mount Pic de Bugarach.

Umm… yeah… okay. Maybe they ought to simply stop drinking the Kool-Aid instead.

One enterprising person created hoping to capitalize on the hysteria and silliness… but if you want to find out about their list of End-of-the-World parties you need to sign up to their site. After all, there’s no point in letting the End of the World get in the way of a good marketing opportunity, right? 🙂

And if you want to sail off into the great unknown as the world ends, how about a Cruise to the End of the World? The upside to this cruise is that if the world actually survives the end of the Mayan Calendar, you’ll also be supporting the Wounded Warrior Project.

Now that’s a cause worth supporting whether the world comes to an end or not.

Allen West’s Battle For True Election Results Continues

Colonel Allen West has fought for America his whole life. His credentials are, in my mind, impeccable, and he has proven he will do whatever it takes to protect America and its citizens.

Why should he stop now when the enemy is so close at hand?

Colonel Allen WestAmerican Hero and Patriot

Colonel Allen West
American Hero and Patriot

As a congressman, Rep. Allen West is in the battle of his political life and faces an enemy who will, apparently, stoop to any low in order to remove him from the U.S. Congress.

The mainstream media thinks nothing of voter returns greater than 100%. The mainstream media can’t even find an ounce of concern when the rate breaks 120%. And when voter returns hit 140% in certain districts, they simply turn a blind eye and ignore it.

The reality is that when you have more votes cast than there are eligible voters you have voter fraud.

When that voter return rate breaks 140% the entire nation should be outraged, yet we are not.

Out of 175,554 registered voters, 247,713 vote cards were cast in St. Lucie County, Florida on Tuesday.

When faced with the astronomical figures, Gertrude Walker, Supervisor of Elections for St. Lucie County, said she had no idea why turnout was so incredibly high. She was flabbergasted, saying, “We’ve never seen that here.”

“Never seen that here”

Coincidentally (or not), St. Lucie County is also in Allen West’s district, where 6,000 votes mysteriously “shifted” from Mr. West to his challenger.

Out of the 247,713 cards cast, somehow election machines counted 123,591 total votes.

Along with this questionable result, Mr. Obama also received over 99% of the vote in numerous districts in Broward County. In various districts in Cleveland, he received 100% of the vote. In Florida, Mr. Obama received over 99% of the vote in precincts where GOP inspectors had been removed.

As for the Presidential race, there’s no connection between Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida, right?

It is important to note that:

“Gertrude Walker was among very few public officials to voice support for fellow black Miriam Oliphant, a disgraced Broward County Supervisor of Elections fired for incompetence.”

When the electoral system of the greatest nation on earth is blatantly corrupted an NOBODY cares, America is no longer the greatest nation on earth. It’s just one more banana republic filled with corruption from top to bottom.

Welcome to Obama’s America, where the only man left standing against the rampant corruption is Allen West.

What do governments despise most? An Informed Citizenry.

Yesterday I shared with you a video clip from the HBO series “The Newsroom” in which news anchor Will McAvoy makes the bold (and true) statement that

America is NOT the greatest country in the world.”

While that may have been the most shocking part of the video for many people, it wasn’t the most important.

No, the most important part of that video clip comes later when he says, after listing off many of the things that had made America great in years past,

“We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed…”

That is the single most important statement made in the entire three and a half minutes.

Because buried within that simple statement are some very heroic concepts… concepts we have tossed away in our rush to become the most self-indulgent culture in history.

It is our duty as citizens to be informed about the nature and character of the men and women who want our votes.

It is our duty as citizens to educate ourselves and to satisfy our own curiosity about the events that shape our nation, not from media sources that have their own political agenda, but from any and all sources that will actually let us get to the truth of the matter.

Being a citizen means doing for others, not just ourselves. That means we must put aside our own personal self-indulgences, if only for half an hour in a day.

We will, for example, stand in line for days to buy the latest iPhone, yet we won’t stand at a soup kitchen counter and help feed the homeless for half an hour.

Worse, we won’t even donate a penny of our income to help those less fortunate than we are.

We will stand in line for hours until Walmart opens and then crush people to death in our rush to get the best deal at Black Friday sales, yet we don’t even know our own neighbor’s name, let alone what he does for a living.

Worse, we don’t even care.

We complain endlessly about political corruption and dishonesty and yet today, as the evidence against Barack Obama and his complete screw-up of and repeated lying about the September 11th, 2012, Benghazi terrorist attack is overwhelming… the majority of Americans don’t even know the names of the men who were murdered because President Obama refused them military assistance in their most desperate hour!

Politicians love ignorant voters.

Politicians prefer citizens who have no clue what is happening around them.

It makes it so much easier for politicians when they don’t have to actually explain their actions (or inaction) to an informed citizenry.

H.L. Mencken said it best when he wrote:

The most dangerous man, to any government, is the man who is able to think things out for himself… Almost inevitably, he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable.”

The Founding Fathers in America did not create a nation so it could be tossed on the ash-heap of history a scant 200 years later. They created a nation with the full understanding and foreknowledge that the only way America could survive is if each and every citizen did their part to ensure the government was doing the will of the people, not telling the people what that will ought to be.

A government’s job, first and foremost is to protect the liberty of its citizens. Both here at home and abroad, President Obama is not protecting our inalienable rights. He is tossing them into the trash, fully confident we will do nothing to stop him; fully confident we’re too self-absorbed to pay attention to what he is doing.

Restoring honor and dignity to government is a simple 3-step process.

1. Educate ourselves.
2. Demand our politicians do our will, not their own, while in office, and
3. Replace them the second they deviate from that path.

I said simple, not without effort.

It takes time to educate ourselves. It takes time to become fully informed citizens. I get that.

Isn’t our very freedom worth that little investment?

Isn’t our very freedom worth the tiniest of sacrifices?

Veteran’s Day is just around the corner. That’s the day we honor those who have paid “that last full measure of devotion” as President Lincoln so famously said.

We shouldn’t honor those brave men and women one day per year. They entrusted us with the duty to remember them each and every day… by our actions to preserve the Liberty they paid for with their very lives.

Politicians, like diapers, must be changed regularly, and for the same reason.

While that statement is undeniably true, it is only possible for politicians to become corrupt, inept and selfish when we good and decent citizens allow ourselves to be distracted… when we abstain from our single greatest responsibility:

Educating Ourselves First

Only then can we make rational decisions inside the voting booth about the men and women we are about to elect to political office.

And in case anyone reading this doesn’t know the answer to the question I posed earlier and are curious…

Here are the names and photographs of the four American citizens the Obama administration watched die on September 11, 2012… in case you want to do something about that injustice, no that national disgrace, just a few short days from today.

  • J. Christopher Stevens, U.S. Ambassador to Libya
  • Sean Smith, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer
  • Glen Anthony Doherty
  • Navy SEAL Tyrone S. Woods

America is NOT the greatest country in the world.

“America is NOT the greatest country in the world… but it could be.”

I have to admit I was quite blown away to watch this short video clip from the HBO series “The Newsroom“.   It was forwarded to me by a friend who called it the most honest three minutes of television ever.  I have to admit he… is correct.

Watch it for yourself.

Be amazed that such truth and honesty about the current state of America could ever make it onto America’s airwaves, just as I was.

That honest appraisal of the current State of the Union is a tragic reality. But we can change all that in just a few more days… can’t we?

Why I Do Not Like The Obamas

Mychal S. Massie is an excellent commentary writer. He is also black. That allows him, unlike me, to write scathingly about the hypocrisy of the Obama clan without being called a racist. Me, I’m just your average white guy, so anything I say that disparages the “Anointed One” clearly must have racist roots, right? Yeah, whatever…

In his recent column Mychal Massie outlines precisely why he despises Barack Hussein Obama, and it’s a very long list. Given that Obama hasn’t actually done anything during his first term (except nationalize the automotive industry and the health insurance industry, devalue the American dollar and apologize to muslim terrorists the world over) it’s surprising that Massie’s list can be as long as it is!

Here is an excerpt from his column. You can read the entire thing on his website,

The other evening on my twitter, a person asked me why I didn’t like the Obama’s? Specifically I was asked: “I have to ask, why do you hate the Obama’s? It seems personal not policy related. You even dissed their Christmas family pic.”

The truth is I do not like the Obamas, what they represent, their ideology, and I certainly do not like his policies and legislation.

I’ve made no secret of my contempt for the Obamas. As I responded to the person who asked me the aforementioned question, I don’t like them because they are committed to the fundamental change of my/our country into what can only be regarded as a Communist state.

I don’t hate them per definition, but I condemn them because they are the worst kind of racialists, they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America. They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds, and for those who are willing to admit same Michelle Obama’s raw contempt for white America is transpicuous.

I don’t like them because they comport themselves as emperor and empress. I expect, no I demand respect for the Office of President and a love of our country and her citizenry from the leader entrusted with the governance of same. President and Mrs. Reagan displayed an unparalleled love for the country and her people. The Reagans made Americans feel good about themselves and about what we could accomplish. Could you envision President Reagan instructing his Justice Department to act like jack-booted thugs?

Presidents are politicians and all politicians are known and pretty much expected to manipulate the truth, if not outright lie, but even using that low standard, the Obama’s have taken lies, dishonesty, deceit, mendacity, subterfuge and obfuscation to new depths. They are verbally abusive to the citizenry and they display an animus for civility.

I do not like them, because they both display bigotry overtly, as in the case of Harvard Professor Louis Gates, when he accused the Cambridge Police of acting stupidly, and her code speak pursuant to now being able too be proud of America. I view that statement and that mindset as an insult to those who died to provide a country where a Kenyan, his illegal alien relatives, and his alleged progeny, could come and not only live freely, but rise to the highest, most powerful, position in the world. Michelle Obama is free to hate and disparage whites, because Americans of every description paid with their blood to ensure her right to do same.

I have a saying, that “the only reason a person hides things, is because they have something to hide.” No president in history has spent over a million dollars to keep his records and his past sealed. And what the two of them have shared has been proved to be lies. He lied about when and how they met, he lied about his mother’s death and problems with insurance, Michelle lied to a crowd pursuant to nearly $500,000 bank stocks they inherited from his family. He has lied about his father’s military service, about the civil rights movement, ad nauseum.

He lied to the world about the Supreme Court in a State of the Union address. He berated and publicly insulted a sitting Congressman. He has surrounded himself with the most rabidly, radical, socialist academicians today. He has fought for abortion procedures and opposed rulings that protected women and children, that even Planned Parenthood did not seek to support. He is openly hostile to business and aggressively hostile to Israel.

You can read the rest of this scathing indictment of Barack Obama at

Trump to Obama – $5 million to the Charity of Your Choice if you just release your records

Donald Trump is many things, and even if you dislike the man intensely (as I do) you’ve got to give him credit for putting his money where his big mouth is.

Trump just released a video offering President Obama an incredible deal.
Donald-Trump-187x250If Obama will release his college records and applications and his passport applications and records by October 31 at 5pm Eastern, Donald Trump will give $5 million to the charity or charities of Obama’s choosing.

Heck of a deal, isn’t it?

Pick any charity in America and they will all tell you how much good can be done with $5 million, but will Obama take Trump’s money?

Not a chance.

And that says more than anything the loud-mouthed Donald Trump can ever say… but then that was the point, right Donald?

French President Francois Hollande says Homework is a Crime Against Humanity?

Some days I really don’t comprehend politicians.

I really don’t.

French-President-Francois-Hollande-is-a-moron-248x250Take, for instance, Chief Moron and French President Francois Hollande. This dingbat is on a rampage to outlaw homework on the basis that it discriminates against the families of the “non-wealthy”.

In what alternate universe?

This mental giant doesn’t have the common sense God gave a gnat, that much is clear.

“When it comes to homework, the President said it should be done during school hours rather than at home, in order to establish equal opportunities,” said one French Embassy official.

President Francois Hollande believes that homework is a burden on lower-income families because those parents aren’t in a financial position to spend more time with their kids.

To be blunt, that’s nothing but a pile of bovine excrement.

Tad Cronn put it best when he wrote in his column “Socialism in Action: No More Homework for Servants of the State“:

Like all liberals, Hollande boils it down to “fairness.” Apparently, some students’ homes are better than others’, so all learning needs to take place at school, where the learnin’ is equally poor quality.

Jonathan Turley also makes an excellent point when he writes:

There are good reasons to question the utility of homework and the loss of free time for our children. I happen to believe strongly in homework but I share the concern over the loss of time for our kids to simply relax and be kids.

However, the suggestion that homework is yet another socio-economic unfairness is wrong in my view. Plenty of working class parents spend time with their kids on homework. Indeed, there is a well-based view of many immigrant and working-class families pushing their children harder to excel in schools.

If parents aren’t spending time with their kids, that’s not an issue with homework, that’s an issue with lousy parenting. It’s an issue with what priorities the parents place on their lives and the lives of their kids.

Outlawing homework isn’t going to change anything except, most likely, make kids stupider. Is that really what we want?

I’ve known plenty of single and two-parent families who, while they may struggle financially, place the well-being of their children at the very top of their priority list. If it’s a choice between spending time with their child to help her figure out her math homework or going out for the night with friends, those parents choose their kids.

Is that a sacrifice? Absolutely. It’s called being a parent.

Much to the chagrin of those who believe the Glorious Nanny State has the responsibility to do everything for everybody, being a parent means you have to, to a great extent, give up your life for the betterment of your child.

Oddly enough, those parents who make the choice of child over their own selfish interests don’t even see it as a sacrifice. They see it as the only natural and obvious choice to make.

Imagine that.

Next is the purpose of homework.

Homework is every bit as much about the actual work being done as it is about teaching a solid work ethic. It’s about teaching a person to be responsible for themselves and their commitments. It’s about personal responsibility, a notion sadly lacking in our current age.

Now I realize this flies in the face of what most “progressives” would have us believe, since they don’t believe in things as passé as actually having a work ethic, but that doesn’t make it any less true.

When I went to high school I had a minimum of 2 hours of homework every night. Did I like it? Of course not. No kid likes homework. That’s not the point. Whether I liked it or not was not relevant and doing that homework taught me one very important lesson.

If something needs to be done, do it now. Don’t procrastinate.

It takes far less time to do the work than it does to bitch about doing the work.

Believe it or not, that’s an important lesson for any kid to learn.
